The Integrated Nature of CLIL: A Sociocultural Perspective

1)    Five languages expressions:
  •  Twofold aims of CLIL
  • Transaction of subject knowledge
  •  Socially contextualised entity instantiated in language.
  • Other users of the target second language
  • Apprenticeship

2) Three main ideas:

  • The first step to construct a good knowledge is CLIL language because is the base of the language learning. The second step is the social nature of learning.
  • CLIL let children learn the content and the language throw communications and exploration because the methodology is dynamic, interactive and practice.
  • We need key words, expressions and a community to understand the language.

3) General idea:
Language is the base of any learning and, for this reason, we need to motivate students. To get this, we should combine language, CLIL methodology and social nature learning because this way is more interactive and dynamic for children and we can get other perspective to learn a new language. In addition, students can achieve the content of a concrete topic and use this new vocabulary and grammar structures in a real situations.

4)  My opinion:

I think that this article is very interesting because the language is the best way to communicate with other people and change different ideas, opinions, knowledge… Furthermore, if we combine CLIL methodology with the social nature we can get a good opportunity to learn a second language in a different and motivate way for children because students learn the language without realizing. But, apart from the language, students also learn to work in groups, share different opinions, ask questions and, in general, create their own knowledge.
